String Art also called pin and thread art is a form of decorative art where nails are driven into a wooden board and thread is strung around the nails to form a delicate and interesting pattern.

This art form was invented by Mary Everest Boole, a self-taught Mathematician in the 19th century to encourage children to explore Mathematics. The interesting pattern that develops with curves formed by straight lines is fascinating.

It was picked up again in 1960s as a decorative art and has come a long way since then with artistes making seemingly complex designs and even portraits with string art.

The time spent in making even smallest piece and simplest design vary depending on number of nails and distance between the nails driven in the board and how many times thread has to pass through nails to form the design.
