Cathy Nesheiwat - Artist Biography

I am a local artist who plays with photography, dabbles in drawing and currently creates acrylic paintings for catharsis, oftentimes cats wild and domestic; plus, cartoons, chickens, cowboys... and the Kool-Aid Man. Using acrylic paint allows for quick strokes and line work, and the ability to keep "mistakes" and surprise layers, which results in visually interesting compositions. From the whimsical to a touch more realism, my art especially aims to pay homage to the animal kingdom. Large bold colorful work with small and subtle are here side by side to showcase the spirited nature of the subject matter.

I studied fine art at the School of the Art institute of Chicago and hold a bachelor's degree in fine arts as well as nursing. While it has been a hot minute since I was in art school copying the old masters, I now maintain a studio in the Arts in Bartlett where I am "back in the saddle" again.

Too Serious

You get too serious and all the colors fade

All you see is black and white, no other shade

Everything is so defined you just can’t learn

And all of your originality starts to burn

White flames and dark black tainted smoke

You catch one small breath you begin to choke

Choking on your smallest one with nothing

Like a black and white turkey and bland stuffing

Others have to turn their heads and look away

Knowing you’ll see no fun on a beautiful day

It won’t be long, and you’ll be standing all alone

And no one will answer when you see your phone
