Now in its 16th year, Arts in Bartlett is in its next growth phase.

Arts in Bartlett, an all volunteer organization, has brought a variety of events to the Bartlett area so the many types of cultural arts can be experienced by people of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, we provide the opportunity for local talent to showcase their work right here in their own community.

Arts in Bartlett moved in October 2014 into a 2,750 sq ft Center for the Arts at 215 S Main Street in Town Center. This was our 4th move during the 15 years, each time to larger locations.  We are enjoying a large storefront gallery, a community room for meetings and performances and studio space for the Color My World Arts Academy, an adult art teacher, a cello teacher, a violin teacher, 2 piano teachers, and a woodwind teacher and a children's and teen choir.   In 2017 we reached a new high of 314 members, about 100 who were family memberships that included at least three people. Our reach has nearly tripled in the past 5 years.

With this boom in growth and new opportunities, it became clear that to continue to work toward the vision of Bartlett and the surrounding community as one that values and supports the arts we must grow along with the demand.

Fundraising/Grants/Inkind gifts

Seed money from patron Jeanette Croonquist Edwards jump started our big move. We started a digital campaign called 12X12X12 in a drive to raise $2,000 with supporters donating at least $12 by the 12th month of our 12th year. We extended the campaign into renewals for 2015 and doubled our goal to $4,000. We also have had many other fundraisers in the past 3 years,  including "Dinearound for the Arts" where local restaurants give Arts in Bartlett a portion of the money our members spend. Other special events such as a Children's Fashion Show, a Chocolate Extravaganza, an annual Arts Festival, "The Mystery of the MIssing Masterpiece"  a fun "whodunit," $5 Friday Open Mics, receptions with live music on Friday evenings with gallery walks.  food and drink, and proceeds from the sale of Bartlett's 125th anniversary T-shirts. In 2017 we reinvented our previous juried fine arts Festival, makng it a multicultural event. In 2018 the Global Arts Festival will be held in Bartlett Park on June 23-24. Go to News page to find out more about events and activities.

It is estimated that we receive more than $20,000 a year in inkind services from the professionals who support our efforts with pro bono services, including signage, tents & table, consultants, musicians, bookkeepers, and PR/marketing. We also rely on volunteer help to help run the gallery, hang our exhibits, manage special events, maintain our website and Facebook,  and process memberships. If you would like to volunteer please contact Cecilia at artsinbartlett@comcast.net

In 2017 we received $5,000 in a grant from the Village of Bartlett, and a $2,000 grant from the Illinois Arts Council, which was increased to $3,000 for 2018. For the past three years, we received a Youth Employment grant from the Illinois Arts Council from a grant it received from the National Endowment for the Arts to hire high school interns for the summer. We continually look for other grant opportunities.

Dues support

Income from dues are a very important part of our budget and we have kept them low to make them affordable for all. They start at $20 for students and seniors; individuals, $25; family $35; corporate memberships, $175, and the highest individual level, sustaining at $125.  Our needs are increasing in the larger space, while keeping up on current programs: college scholarships, and offering more membership benefits, including free events and gallery and lesson discounts. Check to see if your company matches charitable donations and if so find out how to double your donation.

In 2018 we encourage members to make an additional Arts Booster donation with their dues and receive a booster button. Those who donate $18 or more for 2018 will receive a booster button. We are currently raising funds for college scholarships for high school seniors and the Budding Talent grant fund that supports children with exceptional talent whose families cannot afford private lessons, art & music camp and supplies. In addition, we solicit sponsors and donors of talents and services for the Global Arts Festival June 23-24.

When you become a 2018 member, your leaf will be added to our Family Tree displayed in the hall in the Arts Center. More branches will be added as needed to show our growth and the members' names as they joined the Arts in Bartlett family.

Other support

If you're ordering from Amazon you can help the Bartlett Center for the Arts

Many of us use Amazon as a main portal for gifts. And, Amazon gives Arts in Bartlett a portion of the amount of your order if you go through their charity donation site: smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com. This link goes directly to our page. #StartWithaSmile at smile.amazon.com/ch/76-0703825 for your purchases and Amazon donates to Arts in Bartlett.

Or just go there when you’re ready to order and if you’re not already registered, a screen will come up and you type in Arts in Bartlett as your charity. It will come up in a list for you to confirm  (be sure NOT to confirm Bartlett Arts Council – that is in Tennessee) and then start shopping. Next time you order on this site it should say at the top of the page that you are contributing to Arts in Bartlett. Same prices/same products: it doesn’t cost you an extra cent.

Thanks for your support. And pass this on to others, put on your Facebook, website and Linkedin pages too!

Please be aware that many corporations offer an Employee Matching Gift Program, which matches donations to a 501(c)3 up to $5,000. Any amount you give, no matter how small, will be doubled. Please contact your Human Resources Department to see if it has an Employee Matching Gift Program and if it will match donations to Arts in Bartlett.
