Music & Choir

 

Does your child love to sing? This 12-week Children's Choir program from September 14 through December 7, 2017, will help them develop their talent in a fun group activity under the direction of Mindy Dupee, lvoice and piano teacher.  Choir members will learn the basics of proper breathing technique, body positioning and tonal reproduction.  They will learn, prepare and present a selection of music in single and two-part harmony.  The Choral Recital will be Thursday, December 7, at 5:30 p.m. Experience the fun and excitement of creating music together!

Who:                  Children entering Kindergarten to 8th grade

When:                5:15 to 6 pm, every Thursday from Sept. 14 through Dec. 7, 2017. No class on Thursday, Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving).  

Where:               Arts in Bartlett Center for the Arts, 215 S. Main St. in Town Center

Registration:     Click here to download the forms (2 pagesDeadline to fill out the registration form and return it is September 7.  It is also available at Arts in Bartlett, 215 S. Main. The minimum class size is 10, and registered participants will be notified if the class is canceled.  Program fees are payable at the first session  Sept. 14 by cash or check. Check should be made out to Mindy Dupee.

Cost:                   $100 for Arts in Bartlett family members, and $120 for nonmembers. Extra discount: $10 off when you sign up and bring in another family. Not a 2017 member? New family memberships are $30 a year and if you join now, your membership is good for the rest of 2017 and carries through all of 2018. Guitar and Ukulele Lessons

Arts in Bartlett welcomes its newest music faculty member: David Hains, a Streamwood music teacher. He will be teaching on Tuesdays from 4 to 8 p.m. starting Sept. 5 


 Cello Lessons

Dorothy Deen teaches cello and can be reached at cellodorothy@gmail.com or 630 301 2579. She is a professional cellist performing with various opera and orchestral organizations including the New Philharmonic and Light Opera Works. She is artist director of the Naperville Chamber Players. She has a master's in music performance and pedagogy from Northern Illinois University. 

Violin Lessons

Gretchen Sherrell is accepting new violin and viola students. She is a performer with several area symphonies and coach with Elgin Youth Symphony Chamber Music Institute. She has a doctorate in violin performance. You can reach her at trent@tsherrell.com or 630-483-6879. 

Woodwind Lessons
Wayne Richards has been a professional performer, soloist, clinician, and teacher of saxophone and woodwinds in the Chicago area for more than 30 years. He will begin flute, clarinet and saxophone lessons at Arts in Bartlett in March 2016. He can be reached at wayneErichards@comcast.net or 630-215-5019. 

Piano & Voice Lessons; director of Children's  Choir

Mindy Dupee teaches piano and voice. She has taught piano for more than 20 years and taught voice for 15 years.  She previously led a children's choir for a Therapeutic Day School and has sung with the Elgin Choral Union for four years. She may have a few spaces for new students this fall.
